Zeno is a legal AI platform grounded in the primary law of the Netherlands, Germany, and the European Union — legislation, parliamentary history, court rulings, and CJEU judgments — rather than a jurisdiction-neutral assistant. Research answers cite their sources and show the reasoning behind them, and the workspace pulls matter files and correspondence alongside primary law so a question can be answered against both.
Beyond research, Zeno reviews documents against criteria such as preferred legal positions and internal policies, extracts and compares clauses across up to 50 contracts in a table, drafts through a Microsoft Word add-in with customizable writing profiles, and translates full documents via a DeepL integration. It connects to NetDocuments, SharePoint, and Epona. Output is produced as reviewable work product — Word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, email drafts — for a lawyer to approve.
Zeno was founded in Rotterdam in 2024 by Raoul Bouchrit, Andreas Lepidis, and Nordin Bouchrit, and raised a EUR 2 million round in April 2025 led by Optiver founder Chris Oomen. It sells to law firms (typically 20+ lawyers), corporate legal departments, and notaries, and works in Dutch and English. In 2026 Zeno and HVG Law were shortlisted for outstanding collaboration at the Law.com Legal Geek Leaders in Tech Awards.
On data handling, Zeno states that data stays within the European Union and that user inputs are not used for model training. The company reports ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and ISO 27018 certification, mapped GDPR controls, independent penetration testing (2025), and BRAO-aligned confidentiality and provider supervision, with a public trust center at trust.zeno.law. It does not disclose which foundation models sit underneath.
